Southern California punk veterans zebrahead are ready to add another chapter to their decades-long career. The band will release its new EP, O, on August 12. With nearly 700,000 monthly Spotify listeners, the group continues to attract audiences around the world.
The current lineup features bassist Ben Osmundson, vocalist and rapper Ali Tabatabaee, vocalist and guitarist Adrian Estrella, drummer Ed Udhus, and guitarist Dan Palmer. They continue to build on zebrahead’s signature mix of punk energy, melodic hooks, heavy riffs, and hip-hop attitude.
Bringing the Concept Full Circle
O completes zebrahead’s conceptual EP series, following III, II, and I. The band uses the new release to bring the project full circle in both its music and visual identity.
Moreover, the band promises bigger riffs, stronger hooks, and more explosive verses. Tabatabaee says the new songs allowed the band to explore a fresh side of its sound. Estrella likewise expects the tracks to make a major impact onstage.
The band’s confidence comes from decades of experience. zebrahead signed with Columbia Records shortly after leaving high school and has since sold more than two million albums worldwide. The group also earned a Grammy nomination for a collaboration with Motörhead and has toured extensively across the globe.
No Signs of Slowing Down
For nearly 10 years, zebrahead has operated independently. The band now controls its creative direction and business decisions. Osmundson credits that freedom with keeping the group motivated.
Furthermore, live shows remain central to zebrahead’s identity. The band has performed at major festivals including Reading & Leeds, Download, Rock am Ring, Summer Sonic, Fuji Rock, Slam Dunk, and Vans Warped Tour.
Since releasing its Yellow EP in 1998, they maintained its momentum through lineup changes and industry shifts. Releases such as Playmate of the Year, MFZB, Broadcast to the World, and Brain Invaders have strengthened its international following.
