Alyssa Gallarneau drops her debut album, For The Record,and an exploration of her lived experience, paying close attention to love, faith, longing and self-discovery.
Alyssa Gallarneau is a singer-songwriter currently splitting her time between Chicago, Illinois, and Bloomington, Indiana. Her debut album, For The Record, was written across several months and three countries.
It is an intimate mix of pop, singer-songwriter and folk influences. At its very core, it is a vivid body of work, showcasing her emotionally rich and distinctive style as an artist. Alyssa explains:
I approached many songs as if they were a scene in a film. I wanted the album to reward repeated listens, and hopefully reveal new details each time through.
The Album’s Origins
In 2025, acclaimed artist Mark Morrison introduced Alyssa to renowned UK producer Ian Barter. This began the journey towards her debut album, For The Record. In fact, she recorded her album in Barter’s personal garden studio. She travelled to London twice in order to manage this feat. After, she signed a deal with Mark Morrison’s MackLife Records.
The Tiktok hit, “Love Business (Sha-Boom)”, released in February, and amassed over 2.5 million views on the popular music app, TikTok. However, that’s not its only achievement. It also reached download charts in several countries and received support from Apple Music.
“SoHo” followed in March, with nearly 1 million views on TikTok, and “Consider This The End” in May. “Willow Tree,” “Ocean Air,” and “All’s Fair in Love & War” are also stand out tracks that will definitely engage first time listeners.
The focus track “I Don’t Want To Think About You” is written with Alyssa’s older sister, Brittany Gallerneau. It actually has roots in the artists’ collaborative experience. They draw inspiration from being raised in a family of pilots, with Brittany being a pilot herself. This backstory adds an additional layer of emotional complexity into the track.
“We were inspired by the push and pull dynamic of not wanting to think about the person you can’t stop thinking about,” she says. “It’s the song you listen to as your flight takes off, except the person you wanted to show up for you arrives at the gate too late.”
