zebrahead drops “Happy Endings at the Movies,” the fifth single from its upcoming EP O, ahead of the record’s August 12 release.
zebrahead continues its latest chapter with the release of its new single and music video, “Happy Endings at the Movies,” which arrived on July 15. The Southern California punk-rock veterans also continue building anticipation for their upcoming EP, O, scheduled for release on August 12.
The new track serves as the fifth preview from O. It follows the previously released songs “A Perfect Life Is Such A Bore,” “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” “Burn Burn Burn,” and “Smoke Signals From My Couch.”
The band’s current lineup features Ali Tabatabaee on vocals and rhymes, Adrian Estrella on vocals and guitar, Ben Osmundson on bass, Dan Palmer on guitar, and Ed Udhus on drums.
Moreover, O completes zebrahead’s ambitious four-part conceptual EP series, which includes III, II, I, and now O. Across the project, the band has expanded its sound while preserving the catchy hooks, energetic performances, and genre-blending style that have defined its music for decades.
Life’s Imperfections
The members say “Happy Endings at the Movies” explores the realities of life and the weight of personal choices. Tabatabaee shares:
“Happy Endings at the Movies” is about coming to terms with the fact that life rarely goes the way you planned. We all have regrets, moments we’d take back, and times when it feels like we’re unraveling under the weight of our own choices.
Meanwhile, drummer Ed Udhus hopes the song offers comfort to listeners. “I hope people hear it, turn it up, and realize they’re not the only ones trying to figure it all out,” he shares. Ben Osmundson, the bassist says:
The title is a reminder that perfect endings belong in the movies. Real life is full of loose ends, unanswered questions, and the weight of wondering what could’ve been.
Guitarist Dan Palmer also highlights the song’s musical direction. “We’re bringing the pop punk back on this one… with a zebrahead twist,” he adds.
Since debuting in the late 1990s, zebrahead has sold more than two million albums worldwide. The band also earned a Grammy nomination through its collaboration with Motörhead. In addition, it has built a reputation as one of punk rock’s most electrifying live acts.
Over the years, zebrahead has performed at major festivals, including Reading & Leeds, Download Festival, Rock am Ring, Fuji Rock, Summer Sonic, Slam Dunk Festival, and Vans Warped Tour. The band has also headlined numerous sold-out shows around the world.
With O arriving on August 12, zebrahead continues to build on its long-running momentum.
