Toronto artist ARK IDENTITY, the project of Noah Mroueh, has released his latest single, “Social Dopamine.” Inspired by the raw energy of 1990s alternative rock, the track blends gritty guitars, fuzzy bass, and heartfelt lyrics.
At its core, the song examines society’s growing dependence on social media approval and the emotional cost of chasing online validation.
Through honest songwriting, Noah reflects on how carefully curated online personas can gradually distance people from their authentic selves. Instead of finding lasting fulfillment, many become trapped in a cycle of seeking likes, attention, and acceptance.
According to Noah, the temporary excitement of receiving validation quickly fades, encouraging people to seek the same feeling repeatedly. As a result, “Social Dopamine” captures both the attraction and the emptiness of this modern experience.
A Raw Sound Inspired by 90s Alternative Rock
The single also introduces the next chapter of ARK IDENTITY’s musical journey. In fact, “Social Dopamine” serves as the title track of Noah’s upcoming EP, setting the tone for a collection that expands both his sound and lyrical direction. Throughout the project, he continues to explore themes of identity, vulnerability, and emotional honesty.
Noah wrote the song alongside co-writer Philippe Andre, beginning with the lyrics before shaping the music around the story they wanted to tell. Rather than chasing perfection, the pair focused on creating something genuine and emotionally grounded. This approach allowed the music to reflect the message without sacrificing its authenticity.
Moreover, ARK IDENTITY embraced a classic alternative rock sound by drawing inspiration from bands such as Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Beck. Distorted guitars, fuzzy bass lines, and imperfect drum performances give the song its rugged character.
Instead of smoothing out those rough edges, Noah intentionally preserved them because they reinforce the emotional weight of the lyrics. “Social Dopamine” delivers a powerful reminder that authenticity carries more value than the fleeting approval found online.
