Ahva is known for crafting experimental yet melodic indie pop, blending structured songwriting with playful sonic unpredictability. Drawing influence from early-2000s indie and electronic experimentation, his work often sits between familiar pop sensibilities and more abstract production choices.

“Trapped in Freedom” was written during the COVID-19 lockdowns in Helsinki. It reflects a period marked by blurred routines and domestic intensity. Living at home with young children, Ahva explores the paradox of feeling both free and restricted at the same time. “You’re technically free, but in practice, you’re very much trapped,” he explains.

The track builds from a piano-led foundation into a driving, energetic arrangement that mirrors its emotional push and pull. Despite its introspective origin, the single carries momentum, turning a sense of confinement into forward motion through rhythm and structure.

That contrast runs through Clean Your Soul, which explores themes of constraint and liberation across both personal and creative contexts. Ahva approaches storytelling with subtlety, balancing sincerity with a light, observational tone that opens his experiences into broader emotional territory.

His sound has evolved from early iPad-based composition experiments into a fuller live setup incorporating vocals, percussion, and collaborative performance elements. He has also worked with musician Petteri Mäkiniemi and his custom-built electronic instrument Ginette, expanding the project’s physical dimension.

Producer Damian Taylor, known for work with Björk, The Prodigy, and The Killers, contributed mentorship during the album’s development, while Ahva remained closely involved in production. Drawing inspiration from artists like Animal Collective, LCD Soundsystem, David Byrne, and Hot Chip, Ahva continues to refine what he once described as “chaos pop” ahead of the album’s release.
