Glasgow band Flair release “Ritual,” a confrontational track exploring addiction, ahead of their second EP arriving this July 2026.
Glasgow-based post-indie outfit Flair return with “Ritual,” a track that does not ease its way in. It arrives sharp, direct, and unfiltered, leaning fully into the band’s darker edges. Set for release on April 24, 2026, the single marks the second preview of their upcoming EP For Lack of a Better Word, due July 10 via Revo Pro.

If “Nausea” introduced listeners to Flair’s growing reach, “Ritual” shifts the focus inward. It is heavier in tone, both lyrically and sonically. The track builds around themes of poverty, paranoia, and the cycles of addiction, presenting them without softening the impact. There is a sense of urgency in how it unfolds, as if the song refuses to sit still for too long.
Frontman Tony Collum describes “Ritual” as a “hate letter to addiction,” and that framing comes through clearly. The track does not romanticize its subject. Instead, it leans into repetition and tension, mirroring the patterns it critiques. There is a weight to the lyrics, but also a deliberate restraint in how they are delivered, which makes the message land with more clarity.
What stands out is how the band uses atmosphere to support that narrative. The layered instrumentals feel dense without becoming overwhelming. Guitars cut through with precision, while the rhythm section holds everything in place. It creates a sound that feels grounded, even when the themes spiral.

There is also a sense of evolution here. “Ritual” was originally one of Flair’s earliest releases, but this version feels more defined. The new recording reflects a band that has spent years refining its identity. It sounds more confident, and more intentional, without losing the rawness that likely made it a live favorite.
Flair’s connection to Glasgow remains central. The city’s presence is not just in the lyrics, but in the energy of the track. It carries that familiar mix of grit and momentum, the kind that pushes a song forward even when it sits in darker territory.
With over 100,000 streams already behind “Nausea,” the band’s trajectory is clear. “Ritual” does not try to repeat that success in the same way. Instead, it expands the conversation. It shows another side of Flair, one that is more confrontational but equally deliberate.
“Ritual” will be available on all major streaming platforms starting April 24, 2026.
