New York-based singer-songwriter ROREY returns with her new single, “Dying Fire,” alongside an official music video. The release continues her exploration of emotional conflict and personal reflection, with the track now available on major streaming platforms. Its visual counterpart offers a closer look at the themes behind the song.
“Dying Fire” delivers a dream pop sound built on layered instrumentals and subdued melodies. ROREY explains in a statement that the song explores the distance between connection and separation. It presents a situation where a relationship can no longer continue. And there is no need to assign blame or provide justification for this. Instead, it focuses on accepting certain results and acknowledging that there are some possibilities that cannot be altered.
“Temporary Tragedy,” which she released earlier in 2026, also investigated the consequences of emotional imbalance inside a relationship. Particularly, this single is the follow-up to that composition. The music video that accompanied the single explores the implications of self-abandonment in the pursuit of intimacy. It also features a narrative-driven trailer that expands on the story. Both tracks will appear on her upcoming album, Temporary Tragedy.
According to ROREY, the project as a whole focuses on two individuals who are unable to align their needs despite a strong emotional bond. The album presents both perspectives, highlighting how conflicting expectations can shape the outcome of a relationship. It builds on themes introduced in her sophomore EP Dysphoria, released in August 2025, which explored mental health through atmospheric production and introspective writing.
ROREY has previously received recognition from outlets such as Zane Lowe, LADYGUNN, and Atwood Magazine. Her music has also been featured on several Spotify editorial playlists, including Fresh Finds and New Music Daily.
“Dying Fire” is now available to stream, with the official music video accessible online.
