DFL (Dead Fucking Last) returns with “Second Chances,” blending signature raw punk energy and emotional depth ahead of their upcoming album Fuck It.

Hardcore punk legends DFL (Dead Fucking Last) return with their new single and video, “Second Chances,” ahead of their upcoming album Fuck It. The single delivers their signature high-speed intensity. Instead of pure chaos, the band leans into themes of gratitude and survival.

This is about the second chances that life gives you, and being grateful for them. Not everyone gets one,” says guitarist Monty Messex. He then recalls Taz, a friend of Crazy Tom and him, who passed away after struggling with drugs and alcohol, like many of them did. There is also the line, “Somehow you and me held on,” which is literally about Tom and him.

Driven by a rumbling opening riff, “Second Chances” quickly erupts into a relentless hardcore sprint. Meanwhile, vocalist Crazy Tom, Messex, and bassist Patrick Sullivan trade lines on a dual chorus that hits with urgency and weight. Beneath the speed and abrasion, the song carries a deeper message about survival, loss, and the thin line between the two. In addition, its abrupt, handbrake-style ending reinforces that tension, cutting off suddenly like the lives it references.

More than three decades into their career, DFL remain fast, loud, and unpredictable. However, “Second Chances” shows they can still hit just as hard when they slow down long enough to reflect.

Turning Up the Chaos on Upcoming Album Fuck It

DFL’s upcoming full-length album, Fuck It, shows DFL channeling the reckless spirit that first defined the band in the early ’90s while sharpening it with decades of experience. At the same time, the album brings together an all-star crew behind the scenes.

The album delivers nine no-nonsense tracks packed with speed, humor, and attitude. As a result, it reinforces that DFL’s chaotic mix of hardcore intensity and skate-punk energy remains just as strong as ever.

Fletcher Dragge (Pennywise) produces and mixes the record. He also adds lead guitar on “WWFD” and the title track “Fuck It.” In addition, he contributes guest vocals on “Fuck It,” “Tour Talk,” and “Watch Your Step.” Meanwhile, the band records drums, guitar, bass, and backing vocals with Eddie Casillas (Voodoo Glow Skulls).

On the other hand, Mario Caldato Jr. (Beastie Boys) oversees the lead vocal sessions and provides rough mixes, reconnecting with DFL decades after producing their debut. Altogether, the collaboration continues the band’s long tradition of working with key figures in punk and alternative music.

“Second Chances” follows the band’s recent releases and builds further momentum toward their upcoming full-length Fuck It. It will drop on vinyl April 24 in Europe and May 29 in the United States, with pre-orders available now via SBÄM Records.
