Nine-time JUNO Award winners Arkells unveil their hypnotic new single “What’s On Your Mind” featuring Poolside via Universal Music Canada and Virgin Music Group.

Frontman Max Kerman explains that the band wanted a song driven by repetition and atmosphere. Furthermore, instead of dramatic chord changes, the track focuses on rhythm and melody. The hypnotic structure reflects the band’s fascination with dance music’s ability to build momentum over time.

After touring together, Poolside added subtle textures that elevated the track’s immersive feel. In addition, the collaboration brings together Arkells’ emotional storytelling and Poolside’s signature chill-wave polish, creating a track designed for late-night playlists and crowded dance floors alike.

A Diverse Soundscape on Between Us

Between Us was produced by Los Angeles-based John Congleton, known for his work with St. Vincent, Death Cab for Cutie, and Wallows. The album promises a wide sonic range, blending energetic indie rock with sleek pop influences. Moreover, previously released singles include “Ride” featuring GROUPLOVE, the bright and melodic “Next Summer,” the radio-ready “Money” with Portugal. The Man, and the punchy track “What Good?”.

Arkells recently performed “Ride” with GROUPLOVE at the 2026 JUNO Awards in Hamilton, Ontario. The performance featured an imaginative stage design filled with lush greenery and playful fourth-wall moments, reflecting the band’s creative energy.

Fans can now pre-order Between Us on vinyl and CD, including a signed grass-green vinyl edition. Additionally, Boston-based photographer Pelle Cass shot the album cover on the rooftop of Hamilton’s Jackson Square, paying tribute to the band’s hometown roots.
