Orange County’s Mad Tab drops new single “Awake” on April 1, ahead of their upcoming album Alas! The Bomb Voyage, arriving Fall 2026.
Born in the SoCal underground and shaped by chaos, Mad Tab delivers punk that feels raw and real. Now, with support from Norwood Fisher (Fishbone), the band returns with “Awake” on April 1. At the same time, the track serves as their defining introduction and marks their first release on the new label, InnaNuttshell Reekordingz.

“Awake,” the lead single from Mad Tab’s upcoming album Alas! The Bomb Voyage, hits with raw, technical, and explosive energy. From the very first note, the band pushes full intensity, seamlessly fusing SoCal punk urgency with intricate musicianship, dual lead vocals, and a sharp, modern edge.
At its core, “Awake” tells a story of breaking free from self-destructive patterns while finding a way forward. Having spent nearly two decades navigating chaos, setbacks, and reinvention, the band delivers a message that lands with powerful, hard-earned weight and resonates deeply with listeners.

Mad Tab Brings Two Decades of Punk to Life
Formed in 2006 in the South OC underground, Mad Tab earned their reputation the hard way—playing house parties, chaotic bowling alley shows, enduring lineup changes, and surviving long stretches of silence. Along the way, they experimented with reggae, rocksteady, and ska, before ultimately returning to the punk roots they always pursued.
Today, that foundation comes fully into focus. Founding members Dave Tab and Gram Tab, alongside Scott Beattie and drummer Rob Wheeler, lock into a rare, decades-deep chemistry that is tight, aggressive, and impossible to neatly categorize. Their sound blends influences from Bad Brains, Minor Threat, and Turnstile, while also showing flashes of Rancid and The Hives.
Mad Tab stands out with an expanded sonic palette. Keys and analog synths drive their music while adding grit, depth, and texture rarely heard in punk. Combined with dual-fronted vocals and four-part harmonies, their sound is dynamic, immediate, and hits as hard live as on record.
Mad Tab also runs fully independently, managing their own ecosystem, including OPB Productions (media/content) and MTA Printing (design/merch). After years of touring with Norwood Fisher, they now become the first artist on his new label, InnaNuttshell Reekordingz, showcasing their originality and lasting impact.
Alas! The Bomb Voyage out Fall 2026
For years, the band’s recorded output didn’t match who they had become. Now, with “Awake,” Mad Tab finally closes that gap, presenting themselves as focused, ferocious, and fully realized.
Nearly four years in the making, Alas! The Bomb Voyage was recorded by Hayden Hanson (Tunnel Vision) at Tubetown Studios in San Clemente and mixed by Jim Monroe (The Adolescents, The Dickies, Cadillac Tramps, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, and others). Each track was carefully crafted to capture the band’s full intensity.
After twenty years of persistence and near-misses, Mad Tab aren’t chasing the next step anymore—they’ve arrived. And it all begins with “Awake.”
