Bailey Hyneman embraces life’s grey moments with new single “Better Days.”
New York-based musician Bailey Hyneman released her new single, “Better Days,” last March 5. The song talks about acknowledging the dark days of your life, while still embracing the possible silver linings of it.

Hyneman grew up in a city with musical roots. Her mother was a country singer who leaned towards narrative-driven songwriting. Her father listened to the likes of Barry White, The Manhattans, and Al Green. With these influences, Hyneman’s musical genre blends soul, jazz, gospel, and pop in a sound that encapsulates the feeling of nostalgia and personal warmth.

The Making of “Better Days”
Bailey Hyneman’s new single, “Better Days,” was created during the summer of 2024, while she was living in Nashville and working through a difficult chapter in her life. The song captures the feeling of being caught between grief and the promise of new beginnings, embracing change despite life’s uncertainties.
She confides, “I knew that I was ready for something different but I didn’t know what that transition looked like. I just knew that I was sort of on the tail end of a major grieving period. My life looked so different than what I thought it would look like, and the people I thought would be there weren’t, but the people who were in my life were so wonderful, and the opportunities coming my way were really exciting.”
Hyneman added further, I was just feeling bittersweet about a friend not being in my life anymore and thought to myself, ‘not all bad days have silver linings / not all good friends are here to stay.’ From there I knew I had something that felt important.”
While life seems colorful in general, “Better Days” accepts the normalities of living life in shades of grey. As Hyneman sees it, bad days do not need to justify themselves. Sometimes the most honest response is simply to keep going and lean into the love that remains.
Hyneman Keeps It Close to Home
The song took inspiration from the artists who have always inspired her throughout her journey. The bright arrangements have a hint of Stevie Wonder’s optimism. The soulful foundation is shaped by gospel music and artists like Kirk Franklin, John Legend, and The Roots. “Better Days” has bold brass arrangements and feel-good melodies, with Hyneman’s soulful voice at the center. It adds more to the emotional depth of the song.
Moreover, the single’s cover art shows Hyneman’s father, which makes the song closer to her heart. It reflects the song’s message about thinking and remembering things. The picture is a tribute to someone who brought impact on her life and helped shape her relationship with music from the very beginning.
Bailey Hyneman has been on tour with Joss Stone. She is still making a name for herself as an artist who lives up with sincerity and soul. “Better Days” perfectly captures that spirit. It is a bright, heartfelt reminder that even on the hardest days, there is still hope for something better.
