Rap icon Gloc-9 is reintroducing himself under his real name, Aristotle Pollisco, this time as a poet. On March 12, 2026, he will launch Makata Sa Pinas. It is an omnibus of seven poetry chapbooks, at the Philippine Book Festival in SM Megamall.

Additionally, unlike his 2017 poetry release Akin Lang Naman, this new project presents slimmer. Thematically focused volumes that explore recurring ideas from his music. Collaborating with small press Everything’s Fine, Gloc-9 reexamined his entire discography to craft these chapbooks, turning his decades-long reflections into a poetic journey.

The Seven Chapbooks of Makata Sa Pinas
The first three chapbooks are personal: Pagkatao traces his roots in Binangonan, Rizal, and his growth as an artist; Pangarap reflects on his dreams and the meaning of achieving them; and Pursigi explores persistence, clarity of goals, and staying true to one’s values. Moreover, the next two, Pagibig and Komunidad, shift to storytelling, with poems about love. From familial to romantic—and the everyday lives of people in local neighborhoods.
The final two, Lipunan and Bayan, address social and political themes, examining society, inequality, and the struggles of the majority in the face of wealth and power. In addition, the seven chapbooks capture 28 years of Aristotle Pollisco as a poet. It offers insight into his personal, social, and national reflections. The launch takes place from 5 PM to 7 PM at Megatrade Hall, 5th Level, SM Megamall, and admission is free.

Makata Sa Pinas: Mga Tula ni Aristotle Pollisco is a collection of seven poetry chapbooks by Gloc-9, whose real name is Aristotle Pollisco. To add, the series draws on themes and stories from his 28-year career as one of the Philippines’ most influential rapper-songwriters, transforming his musical narratives into poetic reflections.

Moreover, the chapbooks trace Pollisco’s evolving journey as a poet. Beginning with personal introspection, moving outward to explore community life, and culminating in examinations of the nation’s social and political realities. Additionally, each volume focuses on distinct themes. Yet together they encourage readers to consider their own identity, their place in society, and the responsibilities they hold within their communities, fostering a deeper awareness of the forces that shape the country.
