Instead of striving for perfection and success, “Trial By Fire” underscores efforts and attempts. When writing the song, Cobiella reflects on his past just for the sake of it, to be honest about it, and to laugh at himself. He describes his latest single as something that captures his feelings of giving everything he can, getting the opposite outcome, and somehow being fine with it.

The singer-songwriter further shares, “I love declarations, I love attempts; these to me hold more courage than anything.” In producing his new song, he explores themes he was uncomfortable with before. Despite being out of his comfort zone, he still gives it his all and tries his best. The accompanying music video reinforces the raw emotions from the lyrics and melody.

Gabrielle Neeley, Cobiella’s fellow LA-based artist, co-wrote the indie folk track and contributed background vocals. Nate Van Fleet provided the song’s drumming, while it was mastered by Simon Lancelot and mixed by Jackson Haile. Cobiella and Haile also collaborated on the track’s production.

As of writing, the LA riser’s songs accumulated over 100k streams. Aside from “Trial By Fire,” his other heartfelt releases included “Clay” and “The Age of Parades”, all of which are available on Spotify.
