Michael Gilas, a chart-topping Adult Contemporary artist, releases his new single “Convenience Store,” highlighting his signature confidence and striking vocals.
Billboard Adult Contemporary singer-songwriter Michael Gilas unveils his new single, “Convenience Store,” delivering his signature confidence and striking vocal style on every note. Produced by acclaimed Allan Phillips and veteran songwriter/producer Stephen Wrench, the track features sleek, radio-ready production and stadium-worthy melodies.

Based in San Diego, Michael Gilas has built a global following through fearless storytelling, soulful vocals, and a genre-blurring pop sound. With his latest single, “Convenience Store,” he delivers a track that is bright and melodic, yet at the same time quietly bruised. By using the convenience store as a sharp metaphor for transactional love, he captures the sting of being someone’s emotional pit stop.
Additionally, the single pairs shimmering pop-rock production with the subtle ache of one-sided love. While it shines bright on the surface, it is layered with emotional depth, ultimately marking Gilas’ most confident era yet.

Collaborations & Success of Michael Gilas
Michael Gilas has collaborated with Grammy Award–winning producers Brian Kennedy, Allan Phillips, and Stephen Wrench, as well as Grammy-nominated Kent Wells (Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Reba McEntire) and bassist Jon Peña (Chaka Khan, Carlos Santana, Diana Ross). Building on these high-level collaborations, his 2025 breakout single, “Working with the Rain,” debuted at No. 21 and quickly climbed to No. 13 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. Following this success, “Can’t Hide Beautiful” reached No. 21 on Hot AC and peaked at No. 37 on Adult Contemporary, while “You and Me and Miami” later hit No. 29 on Adult Pop Airplay.

Michael Gilas grew up on Long Island, New York, where legendary acts like the Eagles, Steely Dan, and Fleetwood Mac helped shape his melodic style. Alongside these influences, Motown, R&B, pop, and classic rock all inform his sound. His debut album, 231 Kensington Road, reflects that origin story: “It’s where it all started,” he says.
Before fully dedicating himself to music, Gilas built two successful businesses with his brother, and that entrepreneurial grit now fuels his artistry. “You have to roll up your sleeves and actually get the work done,” he explains.
Then, in 2021, a catastrophic horseback-riding accident left him with a broken neck and wrist. Bedridden and able to move only his thumbs, he began typing melodies and lyrics into his phone. During that difficult time, music became his lifeline. “Music slowly guided me out of this dark hole,” he reflects.
By 2024, he devoted himself fully to music. Since then, his releases have earned millions of streams, exploring themes of love, loss, change, and resilience. Moreover, tracks like “Sigmund Freud’s Girlfriend” showcase his wit and contemporary edge, highlighting his growth as an artist.
Looking Ahead
Now touring nationwide, Michael Gilas delivers live performances that are consistently full of emotion and authenticity. Over the years, collaborations with top producers and musicians have shaped a sound that seamlessly bridges Adult Contemporary and modern pop. With his chart success, growing critical acclaim, and expanding fanbase, Gilas proves that resilience, talent, and hard work can turn life’s darkest moments into powerful new beginnings.
Furthermore, he continues to bring his emotional candor and hard-earned perspective to stages across the country, including an upcoming show at The Cutting Room in New York City on April 8th, thereby solidifying a lane entirely his own in modern pop.
