Yesterday Episode 1 Recap: The First Meeting of Vier and Kelvin

A year before the manipulation and betrayal, Vier enjoys his welcome party prepared by Ken, the heir of the KING Group, whom he plans to invest with. There, he accidentally bumps into Kelvin, an innocent-looking man working as a waiter. Vier brushes it off after the two apologize to each other.

The next day, Vier meets Mr. Khatha, the head of the KING Group, to discuss a possible investment with the VPG Group. While they talk, Kelvin interrupts. At that moment, Vier realizes that Kelvin is the youngest son of the family. Vier then stays at their house for the rest of his visit.

In his room, Vier finds a floor plan and notes about the house’s security cameras. Kelvin leaves them behind as a warning if Vier values his privacy.

Later on, Vier looks for Kelvin and asks why he skipped dinner and if he cooked the meal. Kelvin says he did but stayed behind to finish Ken’s work. He pushes Vier away, but the tension lingers, and interest begins to grow between them.

The Indifferent Treatment of Kelvin

Kelvin leaves another note at Vier’s door, warning him that he is always being watched. The next morning, Vier asks Mr. Khatha about the cameras around the house. Mr. Khatha explains that they are meant to protect the family’s priceless valuables.

Later, at the KING Group office, Kelvin asks Vier not to tell his father about the notes, as he wants to avoid trouble. He then reveals the truth—the cameras are meant to monitor him. Vier later questions why Kelvin worked as a waiter at the welcome party. Kelvin pushes back, asking why he should rely on family money. He insists on earning a living on his own. Vier reassures him and promises to keep his secret. At the same time, Vier realizes that much of Ken’s work actually comes from Kelvin.

Later that night, Vier goes to Kelvin’s office in their house. He steps closer, almost kissing him, but instead removes Kelvin’s glasses and puts them back on, saying he looks more handsome without them. The next day, Vier tells Ken that he will postpone signing the investment contract.

Kelvin Takes the Fall of Ken

During Ken and Lalin’s engagement party, police arrest Ken for money laundering. The scandal risks both the engagement and the partnership between their families and companies. Mr. Khatha immediately blames Kelvin. Kelvin insists he would never harm his brother and says he would do anything for him.

Mr. Khatha then orders Kelvin to take the fall and serve Ken’s jail sentence. Kelvin agrees without hesitation, and Vier overhears everything.

At the police station, a man assaults Kelvin out of anger toward Ken, who had sexually assaulted his sister weeks earlier. The next day, Vier bails Kelvin out. When Kelvin offers to repay him, Vier asks him to be his instead.

Later that night, Vier takes Kelvin out for a breather. With his broken glasses, Kelvin can barely see. Vier moves closer until Kelvin can finally see him clearly. The moment turns intimate.

Afterward, Kelvin promises, “From now on, whatever you want, I’ll give it to you—even my life.” Vier shuts him down, saying the night meant nothing. “We are not lovers. I don’t love you. No strings attached.” The next day, he withdraws his investment from the KING Group.
