Finding Another Nine-Tailed Fox in No Tail to Tell Episode 5
No Tail to Tell episode 5 opens with Si-yeol jolting Eun-ho awake from a nightmare in which he stabs her. She quickly dismisses it as a prophecy since her powers are gone.
Yet the fear lingers as they spend the night in a rundown roadside motel. Although Si-yeol brushes it off as guilt manifesting from her past treatment of him, Eun-ho can’t help but turn inward and question her own conscience.
Despite their usual bickering, the tension softens when Si-yeol tends to Eun-ho’s sore feet. Their sharp words give way to a quiet conversation about loneliness and personal limits. As the temperature drops, Si-yeol offers her his jacket, which Eun-ho teasingly reads as flirting, leaving him visibly flustered.
Meanwhile, in London, Woo-seok broods over the trophies he has collected and senses that everything he has gained may soon vanish, hinting at trouble ahead. The next morning, Si-yeol and Eun-ho set out on their second hike, better prepared but no less challenged.
Crowds slow them down, and Si-yeol repeatedly catches Eun-ho when she stumbles along the trail. By nightfall, their situation worsens as they realise they are truly stranded: Si-yeol sprains his ankle, the map goes missing, and his phone dies, pushing both of them into panic as the danger becomes real.
Geum-ho Version 2.0
Their search finally pays off when the fox appears. She looks exactly like Geum-ho, yet she lacks all of her memories, which immediately sends Eun-ho into a rage.
Convinced that the heavens are mocking them, Eun-ho storms away and angrily rails against the gods, refusing to play along with what she sees as their cruel game.
Soon after, the new fox heals Si-yeol’s injured ankle, and the two manage to catch up with Eun-ho. Still baffled by Eun-ho’s outburst, Si-yeol listens as she opens up about losing her friend.
He urges her to set aside her anger for now and focus on their immediate problem, prompting the fox to attempt a solution. Meanwhile, in London, objects begin disappearing from Woo-seok’s home, sending him into a panic. When the disturbances suddenly stop, he hurriedly tries to contact Si-yeol.
Back in South Korea, the fox explains that she cannot undo a fate-switching spell. She reveals that she has lived as an eight-tailed fox for the past 500 years and explains the path foxes take to become human.
Through enlightenment and virtue, they gradually shed their animal form, gain human traits, and grow additional tails. However, she has yet to earn her ninth tail.
When Eun-ho finally reveals who she is, the fox reacts with excitement and says the Mountain God foretold that Eun-ho would help her become human.
Overwhelmed by yet another divine manipulation, Eun-ho lashes out at her and walks away, choosing to leave the following day rather than continue playing a role written by the heavens.

Way to Fix the Problem
Elsewhere in No Tail to Tell episode 5, CEO Lee Yoon asks Secretary Choi to investigate foxes. Choi reacts with skepticism, especially when Yoon recalls striking Si-yeol instead of Woo-seok that night. Dropping the fox theory for now, Yoon redirects the task and tells Choi to dig into Si-yeol instead.
Back on the road, Si-yeol and Eun-ho regroup and attempt to form a new plan. He lightens the mood by teasing her with her human name, Ok-sun, which only makes her sulk. Their situation worsens when the car runs out of fuel, and Si-yeol realizes he has lost his wallet.
As they walk, he suggests using Eun-ho’s money, only to learn that she hid it in Myohyangsan Mountain in North Korea. She even placed a barrier around it, making it inaccessible to anyone, including Geum-ho 2.0.
Meanwhile, Geum-ho 2.0 discovers Si-yeol’s wallet in her den just as Lord Pagun appears. After hitchhiking, Si-yeol and Eun-ho finally reach Seoul. He wonders if Eun-ho’s clients might help them, but she dismisses the idea as naive.
At that moment, Woo-seok appears and apologizes for going into hiding. He pleads with Si-yeol for one more week before their fates switch.
Realizing how desperate Woo-seok truly is, Si-yeol agrees. As the two reconcile, Geum-ho 2.0 suddenly arrives in No Tail to Tell episode 5 and announces that she has found a way to fix everything.
No Tail to Tell Episode 5 Review
No Tail to Tell episode 5 slows things down. But deepens the emotional weight of the story. The episode focuses on Si-yeol and Eun-ho being stranded together, which leads to softer moments, honest talks, and small signs of growing trust.
Their bickering feels lighter, and scenes like sharing a jacket or teasing each other add warmth. At the same time, Eun-ho’s anger toward the heavens shows how tired she is of being controlled by fate.
The episode also raises tension by introducing Geum-ho 2.0 and hinting that Woo-seok’s time may be running out. The rules of becoming human are explained clearly, making the fantasy elements easier to follow. Woo-seok’s emotional plea and Geum-ho 2.0’s claim that she has a solution set up major stakes for what comes next.
