XG Redefines Their Name: “Xtraordinary Girls” Evolves Into “Xtraordinary Genes” Ahead of World Tour & Album Drop.
The international hip-hop/R&B group XG said that the meaning of their name has boldly changed from “Xtraordinary Girls” to “Xtraordinary Genes.”
As each member formally enters their twenties, the announcement coincides with Japan’s Coming-of-Age Day, a symbolic turning point.
Since debuting under the moniker “Xtraordinary Girls,” XG has pushed boundaries and challenged expectations. By producing bold performances and a genre-blurring sound that has resonated across. “Xtraordinary Genes” redefines the group’s identity as something innate—rooted in creativity, individuality, and cultural instinct.

Thank you, as always, for your warm and continued support. We are pleased to announce that XG has evolved its group name from “Xtraordinary Girls” to “Xtraordinary Genes.”
The name “Genes” stands for the strength and inventiveness that are innate to us. As well as our desire to constantly develop new cultures free from social constraints.
XG will continue to grow with depth and authenticity, honoring our roots as “Girls” while returning to the “Genes” at our core. We hope to continue being a force that empowers individuals from all walks of life via this progression.
Meanwhile, “THE CORE – 核,” XG’s debut full-length album exploring identity across genres, which released on January 23, 2026. It is a daring musical statement that explores the group’s identity across genres and eras. With songs like “XIGNAL (The Intro),” “ROCK THE BOAT,” and the pre-release single “4 SEASONS.” The album demonstrates XG’s unwavering talent while solidifying the new X-POP genre.
