IDOL I Episode 7 Recap: Do Ra-ik Questions Maeng Se-na’s Belief in Him

Maeng Se-na comes home to find her hidden Do Ra-ik merchandise scattered across the floor. Ra-ik confronts her, visibly shaken and hurt, and questions whether her belief in him was ever real. Se-na admits she was once his fan but insists that her feelings had nothing to do with why she took his case.

Still, Ra-ik feels deeply betrayed. He tells her that she was the first person to truly defend him and believe in him—not as a member of Gold Boys, but as Do Ra-ik himself. Because of that, he trusted her completely. When he realizes she hid the truth, he admits that trusting her may have been a mistake.

Before leaving, Ra-ik asks one final question: if he were just Do Ra-ik, would she still defend him and believe in him? Se-na stays silent.

Why Maeng Se-na Couldn’t Let Go of Her Merchandise

When news breaks that Do Ra-ik is suspected of murdering Woo-seong, Maeng Se-na tries to throw away her merchandise and suppress her feelings for him. She believes letting go is the only way she can defend him fairly.

Still, she can’t bring herself to do it. The items mark the first time she ever liked someone and the joy she felt as a fan. Losing them feels like losing a part of herself, so she hides everything in the attic and promises never to look at it again.

Meanwhile, Jae-hee suddenly disappears after a face-to-face questioning. The prosecution then pressures Ra-ik, hinting that he may be responsible. Se-na steps in to object, pointing out that questioning a suspect without their lawyer present is improper. Despite her protest, the questioning continues after Ra-ik consents, leaving Se-na with no choice but to wait outside.

Maeng Se-na Gets Fired as Do Ra-ik’s Lawyer in IDOL I Episode 7

After the interrogation, Do Ra-ik stops Maeng Se-na before she can explain and tells her he no longer believes anything she says. Still, Se-na chooses to speak honestly. She admits that she was once his fan and that this initially led her to take the case.

However, she explains that the moment she became his lawyer, she set those feelings aside. She took the case because the investigation felt flawed and Ra-ik’s statements were credible.

The one I liked was Ra-ik of Gold Boys. But the one I’m defending is Do Ra-ik, the person. For me, those two are different people.

Do Ra-ik responds that he is not angry because she lied, but because she made him trust her completely. With that, he coldly tells her she is fired as his lawyer and walks away.

Maeng Se-na Finally Throws Away Her Merchandise in IDOL I Episode 7

Prosecutor Byung-gyun confronts Se-na about Jae-hee’s disappearance, acting as if the case is already closed. Se-na tells him, “The prosecutor’s job is to prove charges, not decide the verdict and then force the evidence to match. But that’s exactly what you’re doing, like your father.” He insists that only the court’s proven outcome matters.

Later, Se-na meets Hye-joo to find a new lawyer for Ra-ik and says she’ll send the files. She also finally decides to throw away her merchandise. Meanwhile, Do Ra-ik turns down the new lawyer, insisting he doesn’t need one. Hye-joo then meets him and tells him that Se-na personally asked her to find a lawyer for him, but he rejects her help too, saying he has nothing left to give.

When Hye-joo asks if it’s because of Se-na, he leaves without answering. Meanwhile, Se-na is scolded by Chung-jae for not resting or eating. She explains, “If I stay still, I start thinking. And if I think, I start regretting. And if I regret, I can’t bear it.”

Chung-jae urges her to lean on him, but she insists they can’t cross that line. They both remember how they met—bonding over the shared pain of losing their parents and how Se-na took him in when he had no home or direction in life.

Ra-ik Follows Se-na Home

Maeng Se-na’s boss informs her that Gold Boys’ contract is under quiet review, with particular attention on a breach-of-trust clause, suggesting that someone within the group may betray them. Se-na remembers that Woo-seong led the negotiations with Ra-ik and strongly pushed for the contract. Although she is no longer his lawyer, her boss urges her to share this information with Ra-ik.

Meanwhile, Do Ra-ik spots Se-na on the street and follows her from a distance. She drinks at a convenience store, then returns to the piano where Ra-ik once played for her. Drunk, she sings Gold Boys’ songs before heading home, unaware that Ra-ik has been watching the entire time. On his way back, he finds the merchandise Se-na threw away—including the red cap he gave her when they first met—and takes it with him.

After Se-na falls asleep, Jae-hee leaves her a voice message. The next day, however, the police discover him unconscious after a car accident in the forest. The episode ends when Ra-ik collapses in the street upon seeing Se-na again, leaving her to face his vulnerability once more.

IDOL I Episode 7 Review

I deeply resonate with Maeng Se-na. As a fan, collecting and seeing that merchandise brings back memories, emotions, and the joy of supporting someone you truly admire. The thought of it being thrown away or ruined goes beyond the money spent—it feels like someone is discarding our love and dedication as fans.

Each item carries a story, a moment of excitement, and a meaningful connection that nothing can replace, making the idea of losing them truly heartbreaking.

At the same time, I understand why Ra-ik could no longer trust Se-na’s words. For the first time, someone believed in him—not as a member of Gold Boys, but as Ra-ik, the person. When that trust breaks, especially by the one person he depended on most, his reaction feels completely understandable.
