Tonfah, Typhoon, and Torfun in Beside the Sky Episode 1
Beside the Sky episode 1 begins with Typhoon snapping photos of the sea and the sky. He reminisces, telling himself that the sky never stays the same. He whispers into the air, wondering if someone else is also staring at the same sky. At night, Phoon stares at an abandoned boat. Then a boy runs toward it to help a crying kid, calling the boat their secret base.
Later, Typhoon walks toward their house. He sees the same boy and kid walking together when a girl suddenly takes the kid from the boy, telling him that she will not tell their parents that he went out. It turns out that this scene is Typhoon’s memory from his childhood. He was the kid crying in the boat, and Fah was the one who helped him.
Another flashback appears, showing Fah bidding goodbye to Fun and Phoon. Fah prepares to move to another place with his family to study there. Before he leaves, Phoon and Fun take a picture with him.
The screen then flashes Fun’s picture—but this time, it appears on a tombstone with her name written on it. Fah touches Fun’s picture when he receives a call. Phoon is also about to leave the place to study. Moving forward, Typhoon arrives at his dorm. Before anything else, Phoon gets his pen and notebook and writes to Fun, as if she is still alive and waiting for his letter.
Typhoon Bumped Into Tonfah
Later that night, Typhoon goes out to take photos. However, he ends up losing his way home. He sees a car and asks the driver if it can take him to the university, but the driver says he is heading in a different direction. Still, Phoon agrees and hops in. He ends up at the walking street market. While snapping photos, Phoon sees Tonfah from afar.
He feels startled upon seeing him as Fah walks toward him. Someone accidentally bumps into Typhoon, causing him to fall. Instead of hitting the ground, Fah catches him. Fah smiles when he realizes who it is. He calls Phoon’s name and asks if he remembers him. Phoon nods, while Fah mentions that four years have passed.
Someone calls Fah’s name, causing Phoon to get pushed by the crowd. He loses sight of Fah. A flashback appears where Fah calls Phoon’s name. Typhoon says that he followed a little kitten. Fah continues, saying that while following the kitten, Phoon got lost instead.
It’s not a problem. What did I tell you? If you get lost, just sit and wait. I’ll come find you myself.
The scene returns to the present, with Fah saying, “I found you,” to Typhoon. Later, Fah and Phoon go to a coffee shop. Fah asks why he is there. Phoon tells him that he plans to study there and take Veterinary Medicine. Fah then asks about Phoon’s family. Phoon mentions that his parents have already divorced.
Fah also mentions Fun, which makes Phoon go silent. When Fah asks about his sister, Phoon does not tell him that Fun has already passed away. Instead, he says that she is doing okay.

Phoon’s Dream
Later, Fah drives Phoon to his dorm. Typhoon immediately grabs his notebook and pen to write to Fun. He tells her about the time he spent with Tonfah. While writing, Phoon hears someone knocking on his door.
When he opens it, he sees Tonfah with an angry expression. Fah says that he knows the truth—that Fun has already died. Tonfah blames Phoon for what happened to his sister. He says that he feels disappointed in Typhoon and that he hates liars. Fah tells him that it is better for them not to see each other anymore.
Typhoon tries to stop him and apologize. Then Typhoon wakes up—it was only a dream. When morning comes, Typhoon goes out to buy food. After returning to the dorm, he buries himself in books.
Lights Went Out in Phoon’s Dorm
While studying, the lights in Typhoon’s room suddenly go out. He trembles as he stands up. He tries to flip the switches, but nothing happens. Typhoon uses his phone’s flashlight, only to see that its battery is about to die.
Phoon remembers how his father once locked him in a room with no lights. He cried as the darkness frightened him. Then young Fah arrived and held his hands the entire time.
Back in the present, Typhoon calls Tonfah and tells him that the lights went out in his dorm. Fah asks if he is still afraid of the dark, and Phoon says yes. Fah tells him to wait. Soon after, Tonfah arrives at Phoon’s room. He tells him that the lights will likely stay out until morning. Fah invites Phoon to stay in his room for the meantime, and Phoon agrees.

Tonfah Holds Phoon’s Hands to Sleep
Typhoon and Tonfah arrive at Fah’s room. Fah lets Phoon sleep in the bedroom. While Typhoon is sleeping, Fah enters the room to get some books. Phoon suddenly wakes up and says that he is having a hard time sleeping.
Elsewhere in Beside the Sky episode 1, Fah offers his hand so Typhoon can hold onto it. Phoon asks if Fah will stay beside him until he falls asleep, and Fah nods. When morning comes, Phoon seems to have slept well. Fah asks Typhoon to eat with him outside and go to some places.
While eating, Tonfah mentions Fun again and asks for her LINE number. Typhoon gives it to him, followed by his question about whether Fah heard anything about his family. Fah says that since moving away, he has not received any news about them.
Phoon Pretends as Torfun in Beside the Sky Episode 1
Later that night, Torfun’s phone receives a text from Tonfah. Fah says that he ran into Phoon, who is studying at the same university as him. He says that Phoon seems different, but Fun (Phoon) replies that he is just the same as before.
Morning arrives, and Fah and Typhoon go out together. They stop at a restaurant to eat. Fah notices that Typhoon eats very little, so he tries to make a deal with him. He tells Phoon that if he finishes his food every time, he will take him somewhere.

The Sky of Typhoon
This delights Phoon, so he immediately does as he is told. While strolling around, Phoon asks Fah if they can take turns asking questions. Phoon asks Fah how he has been during the time they were apart. Fah says that nothing much happened—just studying, hanging out with friends, and living life.
Fah asks about the kitten Fah once found, Sri Thong. Phoon tells him that Sri Thong has already passed away. Fah sees the devastation in Phoon’s eyes and consoles him, saying that he knows Phoon did his best.
Elsewhere in Beside the Sky episode 1, Phoon asks Fah if he is dating anyone. Fah says no.
Love feels very distant to me. I dated someone back in high school. After a while, I realized love is complicated. I felt like I couldn’t really handle it, so we broke up. After that, love wasn’t something I was looking for anymore.
Fah adds that people often refer to him as their sky, but he does not want that. When it rains, the sky does not look beautiful, and no one wants to look at it. Sometimes, people only want the sky when it is beautiful. Because of that, he cannot be anyone’s sky.
Beside the Sky episode 1 ends with Typhoon looking at Tonfah and whispering to himself, “Can’t you be my sky?”
