Burnout Syndrome Episode 4 Recap: Koh asks Jira to sleep with him
Koh demands that Jira sleep next to him. At first, he tests whether Jira would do anything for money and feels impressed when Jira asks how much he will be paid. However, Koh simply wants to sleep peacefully. He has struggled with insomnia for a long time. He believes Jira is the reason he finally fell asleep in episode 3 while sketching and talking with him. With no choice, Jira talks to Koh to help him fall asleep.
“You’re like a villain in a movie,” Jira says. “You have to understand that emotions and art are unpredictable. Good things may not inspire, but sometimes evil creates better inspiration.”
Jira asks why Koh likes his work. Koh answers that it helps him see himself in ways he never had before and makes him want to understand himself more. Jira promises to portray that side of him and allows Koh to remain his “evil self.” Koh remarks that he sounds very evil from Jira’s perspective and asks if Jira could ever like him.
Jira admits that he likes Koh as a subject of art, drawn to his contradictions, but not in a romantic way. He believes Koh causes more harm than good. Koh falls asleep before hearing that final confession.
Koh and Jira kiss underwater
The next day, Koh hires Jira for half a day to go swimming. Jira cannot swim, so he struggles to breathe underwater. Koh gives him a tip, saying that kissing helps people unconsciously hold their breath. They kiss underwater. Jira pulls away and leaves, shaken after realizing he was aroused.
Later, Jira goes to see Ing in person. She immediately knows his problem involves Koh. She tells him, “A muse doesn’t need to be physically involved with their artist. Some artists are married and don’t make their wives their muses.” Ing advises him to separate work from desire: Koh represents work, while Pheem represents desire.
Meanwhile, Pheem feels desperate and misses Jira deeply, still affected by being left hanging. Mawin calls it “post-ditch disorder,” describing it as thinking about someone day and night and falling completely head over heels. He urges Pheem to go after Jira at all costs.

Jira paints Koh to sleep
Jira has been ignoring Koh’s calls after work. But while drawing Pheem, he remembers Koh vomiting from his sleeping pills, so he calls him back. Since it’s late, they decide to just talk over the phone instead of Jira going to Koh’s place. He switches from drawing Pheem to starting a painting of Koh.
“You look really good in your sleep because you look harmless. But when you’re awake, I freaking don’t like you,” he says, adding that he’s painting Koh sentimentally, waiting for someone to guide him into dreamland.
Hearing this, Koh wants that “someone” included, so Jira draws an angel kissing him to bless him to sleep. When Koh asks why the angel is helping, Jira explains, “Because the angel knows you’re fragile, unlike the vicious exterior you put up.”
Right after Koh falls asleep, Jira puts away the painting and starts to draw Pheem, but stops after a few strokes.
Jira Accepts Koh’s Award
At the Next Tech Awards, Koh wins an award for the Khao app, an application that helps farmers identify crop diseases and find effective treatments. Pheem initially wants Mawin to accept the award, but Koh asks Jira to go on stage as Mr. K instead. Despite this, Mawin still shows up and disrupts the event.
After Jira accepts the award and delivers his speech, Mawin throws a bottle of urine at him and angrily lashes out, thinking he is the real Koh. Humiliated, Jira leaves the stage, cleans himself up, and immediately confronts Koh, telling him that he is quitting.
Jira refuses to get into Koh’s car because it smells like urine, fully aware of how much Koh values it. Koh insists and drives him home anyway. Later, Koh calls, clearly worried, but Jira, still irritated, ends the call and takes a shower. The episode ends with their conflict unresolved.
