LYKN has once again proved their artistry with their new track “Foreground,” featuring the irony of love between friends that has always been there, yet never seen.
RISER MUSIC’s very own T-pop group, LYKN, has dropped their new song, and this time, they’re not just here to perform but to claim the spotlight through and through.
“Foreground” reflects a love that was always present and near, yet never acknowledged. It captures the heartache of someone watching their beloved fall in love with another, even though they themselves have always been there.
The ache, the longing, and the yearning are written clearly in the song, amplified by LYKN’s emotionally stirring voices. Their new release stands in stark contrast to their previous track, “Drip,” which highlights someone willing to fight for love.
This time, the story is about letting the one you love be with someone else—even if it means it will never be you.

Unravel Every Word Written in “Foreground”
The song opens with William’s charismatic voice wrapped in a melancholic tone, expressing the yearning of someone who has always been there yet remains unseen. It’s a declaration of unnoticed love that has lingered for years.
Moreover, this is followed by the melodic and innocent voice of Lego, pleading for attention, paired with Nut’s voice filled with confusion. When the word “love” is uttered, only to be answered with “friends,” it doesn’t just shatter hope. It breaks every fragment of love that had been silently present.
The chorus is delivered in an agonizing, throbbing form, carried by LYKN’s tender yet piercing vocals. Their harmonized duets fill the refrain with woeful longing. The desire to be someone’s love tempered by the acceptance that “it will never be me.”
The irony of the lyrics is striking. It’s the classic “so near, yet so far” sentiment, where someone so close is somehow impossible to truly see. What makes the lyrics riveting is how they combine a cry of desperation with an almost danceable melody. It invites you to move to the rhythm while carrying a heavy heart.
Additionally, Hong’s vocals bring out the raw emotions of someone waiting endlessly for a love that will never be returned. And when Tui’s voice soars in that high note, it feels like being stabbed in the sweetest, most painful way. Like an arrow straight to the heart, leaving you bleeding, yet smiling through it all.

LYKN’s Visual Storytelling in the “Foreground” Music Video
The music video for “Foreground” delivers visually stunning storytelling—from seamless transitions to atmospheric cinematography. It opens with fast-paced shots of the LYKN members staring at a canvas filled with blurred images of their faces. The dark, moody atmosphere complements the pensive lyrics from the very first line.
In addition, the MV stars Pan Pathitta Pornchumroenrut and Kin Thanachai Sakchaicharoenkul. Pan portrays the girl admired by LYKN, while Kin serves as her love interest. Pan represents the “friend” who has always been close to the members, yet her eyes only see Kin.
Scenes of Pan and Kin together emphasize LYKN’s unspoken jealousy. This is where the heartbreaking question emerges: “Do I have to be a stranger at a distance for you to notice me?” The MV transforms the story into one of painfully realistic love—the emotions of a friend who is never chosen romantically.
Despite the deeply emotional lyrics, the chorus dance sequence injects an addictive, groovy energy. The choreography doesn’t disappoint, showcasing LYKN’s signature moves that make every release memorable.

Have You Ever Been in “Foreground”?
The first time I heard “Foreground” in full, it tugged at me deeply—as if it was telling my own story. It narrates someone’s heartbreak in the most captivating way. What struck me most is how the lyrics cut straight to the heart with raw honesty.
At its core, “Foreground” shines a spotlight on the friend who was always there. They stayed near, gave their time and effort, yet were never chosen. Despite expressing their love—whether subtly or boldly—their feelings went unnoticed. Or perhaps, quietly disregarded in the most excruciating way.
“Foreground” makes you feel the pain of being left behind, the ache of supporting the one you love while they choose someone else.
In addition, LYKN will also hold their DUSK & DAWN concert on October 18–19 at Impact Arena. Tickets are already sold out, proving the power that LYKN holds.
