1. Revenged Love Was Adapted as a Series Back in 2015

It’s no longer new information if I say that Revenged Love is based on a novel. But it might surprise you to know that Revenged Love was actually the second adaptation of that novel.

Revenged Love 1

The original novel is titled Counter Attack (逆袭, Ni Xi), written by Chai Ji Dan. Back in 2015, it was adapted into a short web drama called Counter Attack: Falling in Love with a Rival. It had a total of 8 episodes, quite different from Revenged Love, which had 24 episodes.

Moreover, the actor who played Wu Suo Wei in the 2015 adaptation, Feng Jian Yu, is now acting as Chang Yu in ABO Desire. ABO Desire is another Chinese BL series that continues to fascinate BL enthusiasts.

2. The Series Went on Hiatus After Episode 10

The entire BL community went wild the moment the hiatus of Revenged Love was announced. Just a day before episode 11 was set to air, GagaOOLala announced that the series would take a short break.

Revenged Love - Tian and Ziyu

This made fans nervous because Chinese BL dramas are notorious for being banned. With 14 episodes still left, viewers expressed their frustration over the postponement.

Revenged Love took a bold leap by presenting itself as a true BL series rather than just a bromance with vague undertones. Luckily, after the hiatus, the series returned—not with just 1 episode, but 4 at once!

3. The Controversies Faced by the Actors

The series was a massive hit—there’s no doubt about that. However, with its popularity came backlash, especially directed at Tian and Ziyu.

Issues about Ziyu’s past and Tian’s private life quickly surfaced. While this is common for actors, the two experienced it more intensely.

During the airing of Revenged Love, they often faced chaotic airport mobs whenever they had flights, with fans cornering them in large crowds.

Since Tian and Ziyu didn’t have bodyguards or staff to manage the situation, it became overwhelming. Zhan Xuan and Liu Xuancheng also faced similar situations when they went out in public.

4. The Behind-the-Scenes Clips Will Make You Addicted

It wasn’t just the series itself that made hearts flutter, but also the behind-the-scenes clips. On the official Revenged Love YouTube Channel, BTS content was regularly posted.

Revenged Love - Liu and Xuan

For BL fans like me, it was surprising to see a Chinese BL production release such bold behind-the-scenes footage. It wasn’t just funny moments—the clips often showed intimacy beyond what fans usually expected.

They revealed the natural chemistry of the actors, their closeness, and the effort they put into every episode. It felt like diving deeper into the characters they played.

Honestly, Revenged Love is a gift for BL fans who have endured years of Chinese bromance dramas that constantly pulled back from full expression.

5. Actors From Revenged Love Use Voice Actors

At first, I didn’t even realize that the voices in the series weren’t the actors’ real voices. Later on, fans discovered that most roles were dubbed.

Chi Cheng, played by Tian, was voiced by Wang Bao Shun, while Cheng Yu, portrayed by Zhan Xuan, was dubbed by Wu Zhi Shao Nian. Shuai, played by Liu Xuan Cheng, used Li Jing’s voice.

Revenged Love - Ziyu and Liu

The exception was Ziyu, who dubbed his own role. After filming, he re-recorded all his lines—allowing him to relive his performance as Wu Suo Wei.

This detail was fascinating, especially since the dubbing was so seamless. The voice actors did an incredible job, making it sound natural and clean.
